PSA

Welcome to the Chapel Allerton Parent Staff Association (PSA)

The PSA is a friendly group of parents, carers and teaching staff who work together to support and enrich school life at Chapel Allerton Primary School.

We are a registered charity (Charity No. 1072347). Our charitable purpose is to advance the education of pupils in the school by:

● developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school; and

● engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment.

All parents, carers and staff are automatically members of the PSA, and everyone is welcome to get involved in whatever way suits them best. Whether you can volunteer a little time, share ideas, offer contacts, help at events, or simply support our fundraising activities, every contribution makes a difference.

The PSA is a great way to meet other families, support the school community and help create extra opportunities and experiences for our children.

Events and Fundraising

Throughout the year the PSA organises a range of fun events for children, families and the wider community, including:

● New parents’ craft and coffee afternoon

● Halloween Disco

● Christmas cards and raffle

● Refreshments at Christmas performances

● Quiz nights

● Alumni events

● Spring Sprint

● Sunflower growing competition

● Summer Fair

● Bun and Ice Pop Sales

These events raise valuable funds which allow us to support projects that enhance the children’s experience at school.

Recent PSA funding (and grant funding secured by the charity) has contributed towards:

● An outdoor refresh of planters and beds around the school

● Dance lessons from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance

● Playground improvements including a new running track

● An inspirational mural, incorporating the children’s designs

● Two outdoor reading sheds for the playgrounds

● New books for the school libraries

● Recorders for school

● Theatre Trips for two year groups

● New flooring for the School Hall

● A class set of Yoga mats and other PE equipment

● Sports kits for our Football and Cross Country Teams

● An animal handling experience for our F2 classes

● Mixed learning resources

…and many other projects that benefit pupils across the school.

Could Your Employer Support the School?

Many employers offer charity match-funding, community grants or corporate donations that can support school fundraising.

For example, some companies will:

● Match the amount raised at PSA events

● Provide community grants

● Donate when employees volunteer at events

● Offer sponsorship for school projects.

If your employer offers any of these schemes, it could make a big difference to what the PSA can achieve. Please get in touch if you think your workplace may be able to help.

Support the School While You Shop

Did you know you can raise money for the school every time you shop online — at no extra cost to you?

We are registered with easyfundraising, which partners with over 7,000 retailers including supermarkets, travel companies and major online stores.

When you shop through easyfundraising, the retailer makes a small donation to the PSA.

It’s simple to set up and completely free to use. Parents can sign up and start raising funds here: Easyfundraising Even small purchases add up and can raise significant funds for the school over time.

Sponsor an Item for the School

Another way to support the school is by sponsoring specific items or improvements that benefit the children.

These might include things such as:

● Playground equipment

● Sports equipment

● Books for the library

● Resources for classrooms

● Equipment for school events

Businesses or families who sponsor items can be recognised by the PSA if they wish.

We have a dedicated Library Wish List at The Little Bookshop in Chapel Allerton and online, where parents can kindly purchase a book for the school libraries. More details are here: Chapel Allerton Primary School Wishlist – The Little Bookshop

If you or your business would like to sponsor something for the school, we would love to hear from you.

Hall Refurbishment Fundraising Campaign

The school is currently raising funds to support the refurbishment of the school hall, an important space used for assemblies, PE, performances and school events. You can support the project by donating to our JustGiving page.

Every donation helps improve this shared space for the benefit of all the children at the school and the wider community who use this space for sports, dance, martial arts and fitness classes.

Get Involved

The PSA Committee is a small group of just 8 working parents, dedicating their spare time to help advance the education of the children at the school.

The PSA is always looking for new volunteers, ideas and support. If you are interested in joining the Committee, please do get in touch. Other ways to help are to be a Parent Class Representative, who shares information about fundraising events to parent What’s App groups, and helps to organise volunteers for our larger events (primarily, the Summer Fair). We are also always looking for volunteer bakers and ad-hoc volunteers to help at our fundraising events, whether that’s selling buns, setting up, or even doing work behind the scenes seeking donations from local businesses.

The PSA Committee meets every term to discuss new events and the distribution of funds and we hold an Annual General Meeting in the Summer Term. Parent Class Representatives and Committee members can also share ideas and ifnromation via What’s App groups.

If you would like to get involved or have an idea to share, please contact us:

Together we can continue to make Chapel Allerton Primary School an even better place for our children
